James has over two decades of Energy experience starting his career, in 2003 at Newman Martin & Buchan (NMB) in the North American Marine & Energy claims team before moving into North American Upstream placing team in 2006.
James was an early joiner and partner in a new Energy Broker start-up; Alesco Risk Management Services (initially a JV with Arthur J Gallagher (AJG)) to build out their Energy offering in 2010, where he worked until shortly after it was wholly acquired by AJG.
In 2018, James began a new venture as co-founding partner of Bishopsgate Energy Limited (Bishopsgate), helping to successfully build the business from the ground up to what was eventually a 10 strong team of Energy Practitioners. In 2023, Bishopsgate rebranded to Price Forbes as part of The Ardonagh Group – which is now the largest independent Broker in the UK after several acquisitions of third party brokers. James is now an integral part of the Management team of Price Forbes Energy.
James has had the privilege of working with a broad range of clients, from start-ups to multi-billion-dollar enterprises. Having placed insurance programs in over 50 countries and built a strong network of global professionals who support his clients wherever they do business. James’s experience spans multiple industries, including oil & gas, energy, and construction, with a specialisation Upstream and Midstream sectors.
James’s goal is to deliver an unparalleled client experience for clients, focusing on managing complex risks with agility and responsiveness.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, boxing, sometimes watching Manchester Utd, golfing, and turning my hand to whatever DIY projects my wife and kids desire at home.
