Vitalis C. Nzerem is an SPE Certified Petroleum Engineer with about 19 years of experience in Reservoir Engineering. He is currently the Pressure Mitigation Advisor at ExxonMobil, where he leads technical efforts focused on maintaining safe and reliable operations across unconventional oil and gas assets, particularly in the Permian Basin. His work includes assessing pore space capacity for produced water disposal, managing pressure-driven constraints, and advising on subsurface injection risks and mitigation strategies.
Technical expertise: Reservoir fluid analysis, reservoir fluid phase behavior, black-oil and compositional reservoir simulation, PVT studies, EOS modeling, multiphase flow in porous media, open- and cased-hole wireline operations and interpretation, and subject matter expertise in reservoir simulation at ExxonMobil. Additional unconventional O&G experience includes produced-water subsurface management, shallow-disposal containment-risk evaluation,
and optimization of injection strategies for large-scale unconventional
development.
Education: M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma (OU), USA and graduated with First Class Honors (summa cum laude) from Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Nigeria.
Other Certification: Vitalis is a Certified Six Sigma Black Belt with a proven track record of success in identifying areas for improvement and developing initiatives that improve operational, organizational and system performance.
Hlobby: In his free time, he enjoys, reading, cycling, boxing, swimming and spending time with his wife and two kids (fyrs and byrs old)
