John Durand is President and Chief Sustainability Officer of XRI Holdings, LLC, the water midstream portfolio company of Morgan Stanley Energy Partners. In his role, John oversees XRI’s commercial, ESG and governmental relations functions.
XRI operates over 300 miles of permanent, large-diameter pipelines, with an aggregated system capacity to run approximately one million barrels per day. XRI is presently recycling and reusing produced water at an annualized rate in excess of 180 million barrels of produced water annually (or about 500,000 barrels per day).
As the leading produced water treatment and recycling company in the Permian Basin, XRI is focused on reducing industry reliance on saltwater disposal and potable water sources, and by engaging in and providing ESG-focused solutions for the benefit of all stakeholders.
John’s career spans more than three decades of upstream, midstream and downstream experience in the oil, gas and water sectors, along with experience in the development and construction of natural gas as well as renewable energy power projects. Notably, John has negotiated landmark public/private partnership agreements in the water space with three Texas municipalities (Midland, Odessa and Fort Stockton).
John holds a Master of Business Administration in Corporate Finance from the University of Dallas and a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Land Management from the University of Louisiana.
