Josh Bruening is a Senior Staff Completions engineer for Devon Energy Corporation. In this role, he is responsible for all water-related infrastructure in Devon’s New Mexico Delaware Basin operating area with a special emphasis on water recycling and saltwater disposal.  The portfolio under his management includes 60 in-ground water impoundments, 9 produced water treatment facilities and 37 saltwater disposals.

Bruening joined Devon in 2013 as a facilities engineer supporting Devon Energy’s Delaware Basin production operations. In 2017, he was promoted to staff engineer for the Delaware Basin completions department, where he analyzed and optimized Devon’s water sourcing operations. He accepted his current role with Devon in 2019.

Prior to joining Devon, Bruening served for seven years as an officer in the United States Air Force.  He received his B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and his M.S. degree in Construction Administration from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma.

Bruening lives in Norman, Oklahoma with Brandee, his wife of 15 years, and their 2 children.
