Rick began his career in 1981 as a staff accountant for a family owned drilling company in Abilene, Texas.  Over the five plus years Rick worked for Dixon Drilling Company, a subsidiary of HLH Petroleum, he became intimately familiar with both upstream and midstream oil and gas sectors.  After attending law school, Rick furthered his career by assisting all sectors of the oil and gas industry with its litigation needs.  Rick has tried, to both judge and jury, most all issues that have faced the oil and gas industry over the last thirty plus years through his representation of both major oil companies, as well as, independents.

Rick has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Lubbock Christian University; a Master of Business Administration from Abilene Christian University and; a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law.  Rick is licensed to practice law in Texas and New Mexico.  He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both Civil Trial Law and Personal Injury Trial Law.  Rick was in the private practice of law from 1989 through 2007 with Cotton, Bledsoe, Tighe & Dawson in Midland, Texas, and Fletcher Law Offices, PC from 2007 through 2012.  Rick furthered his career in the oil and gas industry by becoming General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Henry Resources, LLC in Midland, Texas from 2012 through 2017.  Rick joined the Brigham group of companies in 2017 as General Counsel and Anthem Water Solutions, LLC (a Brigham company) in 2019 as its President and Chief Legal Officer.
