A persistent effort to change New Mexico’s water regulations to allow for the reuse and discharge of treated fracking wastewater was dealt a blow Thursday.

Ohio environmental lawsuit: Fracking-waste wells not properly regulated

Last year, a 100-foot-high tower of oily saltwater exploded from the West Texas desert like Old Faithful. Poisonous hydrogen sulfide gas billowed from the geyser in plumes so powerful that workers trying to fix the malfunctioning oil well had to evacuate multiple times before they fetched air tanks.

Growth of data centers poses environmental threats for Southeast Ohio

Ohio has recently seen a massive growth in the construction of data centers. There are currently 194 data centers in Ohio, the fifth most of any state in the country, trailing only Virginia, Texas, California and Illinois, according to the Data Center Map.

Proposition 4 charts Texas water future

On Nov. 4, Texas voters approved a significant upgrade to the way Texas’ water infrastructure is funded. Proposition 4—one of 17 propositions that were on the ballot for voter approval in Texas—dedicates $1 billion a year for 20 years from sales taxes to the Texas Water Development Water Board.
