Lummus acquires water and wastewater treatment technologies from Siemens Energy

Acquisition expands Lummus' portfolio for sustainable, integrated water solutions that support petrochemical customers' waste reduction and efficiency goals. The technologies address water and wastewater needs of the oil and gas industry using carbon adsorption, biological treatment and hydrothermal processes.

Oil falls sub-$70 as weak China data offsets U.S. debt ceiling progress

Oil prices extended losses early on Wednesday as worries of slowing demand from top oil importer China after the release of weaker-than-expected economic data outweighed some positive progress on the U.S. debt ceiling bill.

Surge Energy America's Eight-Year Anniversary

Surge Energy was founded in May 2015 and has since accumulated over 160,000 net acres in the Permian Basin, drilled and completed approximately 498 horizontal wells, grown production by over 16 times from 2015 production levels, and conserved over 4.6 billion gallons of fresh water through the utilization of the Company's produced water recycling system.

Inside Climate News Asks "What Is Produced Water?"...

...and then answers their own question, basin by basin, in this relatively charged piece.

Frackers on the Front Range doubled their freshwater use in 10 years. Lawmakers are already on it.

The FracTracker report relied on state data to show the oil and gas industry had produced enough fracking wastewater over the past 10 years to completely satisfy all of the industry's water needs if they had recycled it, thus eliminating the need to tap into freshwater reserves. But Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commissioner John Messner said it’s not so simple.

After historic drought, Texas lawmakers agree on billion-dollar plan to expand water supplies, fix infrastructure

Texas Senate and House negotiators finalized language for Senate Bill 28 and Senate Joint Resolution 75 late Saturday night. Together, the bills would earmark $1 billion to upgrade Texas’ failing water infrastructure and jumpstart massive water supply projects, from marine desalination to treating “produced water” — water that comes up from the ground during the oil fracking process.

Equitrans Midstream shares make record gains on US debt ceiling deal

Shares of Equitrans Midstream Corp (ETRN.N) jumped on Tuesday after the U.S. debt ceiling deal contained specific proposals that would allow the U.S. energy company to obtain permits for the Mountain Valley Pipeline (MVP).

Southern Colorado residents call for produced water usage, more thoughtful policy decisions

Southern Colorado residents, particularly Las Animas County residents, want state officials to allow for produced water usage and more well-crafted policy decisions that take rural communities into account, noting they are “tired” of the one-size-fits-all approach Denver is known for following.

EnLink Midstream’s Chickadee Pipeline Ruptured and Spilled 402,486 Gallons of Crude Oil Just South of Midland, Texas

Faulty operating procedures led to the March 29, 2023 oil spill that resulted in an estimated $1.3 million in property damages. Despite a functional leak detection system, EnLink allowed the pipeline to continue to leak crude for nearly 3 hours after being notified of the rupture according to reporting by the Pipeline Safety Trust. The spill is the Lone Star State’s fourth largest crude oil spill in the last 12 years.
